Ian became Chief Executive of ERS in 2013. Before joining us he held a number of high level management positions in the industry, most recently as the Chief Operating Officer of Hardy Underwriting, another Lloyd's Managing Agency. Prior to his roles with Lloyd's, Ian was CEO, Direct and Partnerships for Zurich's European GI business. His career also includes five years at RBS Insurance, where he was MD for Privilege Insurance and Chief Representative for RBS Insurance in Beijing. During his career, Ian has largely been focused on designing and delivering major strategic initiatives to drive revenue and profit growth, both in the UK and internationally.
Mark holds the official Lloyd's title of Active Underwriter and is a member of the Syndicate Board. Mark has held this role since January 2011. He leads our underwriting and pricing functions, focusing on building a clear underwriting proposition and enhancing the sophistication of our risk selection and pricing. Before joining us, Mark was global head of motor fleet at Zurich Financial Services, running portfolios in 15 countries with total GWP of $1 billion. He has more than 20 years of insurance industry experience, working within the UK and across a variety of overseas territories.
Sam joined us from Aviva, where he was Broker Performance Director for their Intermediary business, and was responsible for Aviva's broker distribution and Commercial Online proposition. He has worked in the financial services industry in both general insurance and life businesses for a number of years. He originally graduated from Leeds University with a degree in Economics and then attended the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst, where he was commissioned into the Royal Artillery. During his time in the armed forces, Sam saw active service in Bosnia and Kosovo.
Katie is an active member of the Board, responsible for driving financial performance and is part of the leadership team delivering transformation. She has over 18 years experience in financial markets at Board and management levels, both within the UK and internationally. Katie has a proven experience of financial and organisational transformation, having successfully implemented complex transactions, systems and process improvements and re-organisations. She joined us from Aspen Insurance UK Limited and Aspen Managing Agency Limited, where she was Chief Financial Officer and an active member of both Boards.
As Claims Director, Peter is responsible for the delivery and cost of our ERS claims proposition. He originally joined in June 2008 as Claims Operations Director for Equity and Hastings Direct, and his responsibilities at ERS have included the remediation of the Claims function and its response to the Minstry of Justice and LASPO claims reforms. Peter has over 25 years' experience in Claims. He began his career at Royal & Sun Alliance where he was Claims Operations Leader for Global Risks, managing property, casualty and auto claims worldwide and Change Programme Leader for the implementation of new systems and processes.
Tim is responsible for Operations Change and Technology. Before joining us he worked with Xchanging, where he spent two and a half years restructuring their US Operations, then designing and delivering the early stages of their market netting and settlement platform. Before Xchanging, Tim spent 15 years as a consultant, assessing, designing and delivering major IS and business change programmes for clients across Europe and the US. Tim started his career at Commercial Union where he managed the UK Claims Operations function and implemented their pioneering Image and Workflow system.
Peter is responsible for leading on all people and organisation aspects of the business. He is also responsible for all facilities management and the non-claims procurement activities. He has worked across most areas of the financial services industry in his career: Banking (Retail & Commercial); Insurance – General and Life; Retail Financial Services. He has an extensive range of experience in HR and Property Management, having held Executive and Board positions at a number of financial services organisations, including Friends Life; AVIVA; LloydsTSB; Salomon Brothers and American Express.
Richard is an experienced and business-oriented Chief Actuary with 20 years UK and international experience in the general insurance market. He has an impressive track record of leading large teams, managing sizeable projects and delivering improvements in the way business is done. Before joining us he was consulting on the turnaround of the underwriting arm of Hastings Insurance. Prior to this he led the underwriting of Highway Insurance and built the actuarial functions of Highway Insurance and Allianz Retail Division.
Vicky joined us in 2002 as Assistant Company Secretary, and was promoted to Company Secretary in 2005 and then to the CEO's Executive Management team in January 2010. As well as her core Company Secretarial and Corporate Governance duties, Vicky also heads up the legal, regulatory compliance and Agency teams.. She plays a pivotal role in managing the legal and regulatory relationships for the business. Prior to joining us, Vicky held a number of company secretarial positions, and is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators.
