Bloghead Chelsea

Whether it’s the iconic Chelsea and Hampton Court shows or a local event, there’s a variety of specialist agricultural vehicles putting some horse power into this summer’s flower power.

A feast of floral delights awaits at the world-renowned Chelsea Flower Show this week, flower-packed sculptures and contemporary installations wowing the 157,000 visitors expected to descend on this glamourous yet quintessentially British event.

While the crowds enjoy the heady scents in Chelsea this week, teams of agricultural experts are revving-up for the Hampton Court Garden Festival in July, the largest flower show in the world, with gardens for wellbeing take centre stage this year.

Cherry pickers, flat bed trucks, golf carts, mowers, carting trolleys and forklift trucks – vehicles of all types and sizes are required to transform these spaces in Chelsea, Hampton Court and local events every year. Much like garden centres, these floral festivals are visitor destinations that require precise, specialised vehicles to ready the installations, as well as extensive upkeep throughout the events. These sites, by their nature, have to look impressive at all times, the grounds properly maintained for customers to enjoy them.

No time for pruning
Whether a world-class flower festival or local garden centre, all these customers use a variety of vehicles and their risk has to be considered individually by specialist underwriters. Such fleets of specialised vehicles are the unsung heroes of the numerous floral fiestas this summer, and machinery and motors cannot afford to be out of action. Existing commercial insurance policies may include some cover for machinery damage, but rarely do they offer the peace of mind that every motoring eventuality – such as third party liability for machines – is taken care of. In contrast, ERS can underwrite the entire, diverse fleet.

Malcolm Cawsey, Product Manager for Agriculture commented, “Our Leisure and Recreation plan has been created to support the needs of rural businesses and events that require mix of different vehicles– from agricultural machinery and vehicles to trucks, golf carts, mowers and cars. Its flexibility is perfect for the surprisingly diverse audiences we cater to – whether garden centres, hotel grounds, tree surgeons or landscape gardeners such as those at the Chelsea and Hampton Court flower shows. My team of specialist underwriters are ready to help our clients get that nuanced cover that they need.”
