​One year since eTrade and minibuses are even more important to us

We’ve said it before and we’ll say it again: minibuses are essential to day-to-day community life, providing vital transport links for everyone from businesses and not for profit organisations to families and groups of friends.

Over the past few decades we’ve made it our mission to support minibus owners, many of whom have long struggled to access affordable insurance policies because they are mistakenly identified as high-risk customers, despite being some of the safest drivers on the road.

Ensuring minibuses are roadworthy can be a complex business, which is why we’ve developed dedicated minibus products for conventional taxis as well as for the carriage of non-fare paying passengers, allowing us to meet the needs of organisations such as sports clubs, care providers and charities, wherever they’re based in the UK.

In fact, non-fare paying passengers now account for more than one third of our passenger book, while a further 21 percent is comprised of business customers, such as construction firms busily ferrying employees from site to site. It’s a hugely diverse book, and fortunately our appetite for minibus risk is still growing, at a time when there are only a handful of Lloyds A-rated insurers operating in this market.

Just one year ago we launched our eTrade in support of specialist products such as our minibus offerings. The goal was to provide a one-stop-shop for our brokers to get up to date pricing info on these products and provide fast, accurate quotes to their customers. So we thought we’d give you an update on our progress since launch.

The application is regularly accessed by a growing number of specialist brokers and being able to deliver this information online has freed up our underwriters’ time, allowing them to focus on more complex quotes. That’s why we’ve been able to respond to any referrals with an average of a two-hour turnaround time during the last 12 months.

Improved experience Since the eTrade launch we’ve actively sought feedback from everyone using the platform. What you’ve told us thus far has been music to our ears: you appreciate its simplicity and ease of use, you like the fact that it can be accessed 24/7, and you feel that the application is serving its purpose in making your day-to-day lives easier.

But the hard work doesn’t stop here. We’re developing all the time to improve the platform and have exciting new improvements to come in the coming months so stay tuned...
