Bloghead Rugby

With so much history coursing through the veins of our aged isles, sometimes it’s easy to take our heritage for granted. So, at ERS we thought we’d doff our flat caps to the Rugby League Challenge Cup Final, which returns to Wembley on August 24th following an incredible 122nd year of competitive action.

The Challenge Cup is one of the oldest sporting competitions in the world. Last year’s final, which was won by Catalans Dragons, marked the first time a non-English side has secured the time-honoured trophy, and right now we’re waiting with bated breath to see which of Warrington and St Helens will end up crowned as the 2019 champions.

Whether you’re League or Union inclined, most would agree that a trip to the rugby is just about the best day out the sports world has to offer – from buoyant fans to face paint, deafening chants to unforgettable hospitality. But lest we not forget that, for all of the joviality in the stands, what will play out on August 24th is the climax to many months of gruelling physical and mental endurance. A whole lot of blood, sweat and tears, basically.

Rugby players work incredibly hard on and off the pitch. Not only must they contest match after bruising match, these players also have to manage multiple sponsorship obligations, fulfil charity and ambassadorial roles, and keep themselves in pristine physical condition at all times. Such busy lives allow precious little time for personal admin like sorting out motor insurance. This can create a headache for their brokers, who are left scrumming it out with insurers to get a competitive quote for what are often perceived as higher risk customers due to their public profile.

That’s why our Prestige team has developed a Sports & Entertainment product designed to remove the pain from the process and get these cars and car collections covered as quickly and easily as possible.

ERS Product Manager for Prestige, Annie Ward, commented, “Our Sports & Entertainment offering appeals to brokers and their sporting customers because it takes the fuss and fluster out of sourcing niche motor cover. The last thing a sportsperson wants to think about on the eve of a major event is finding a quote for their new vehicle or contemplating the possibility of a lapsed policy. That’s why we focus on minimising the time it takes to get these autos underwritten, manually underwriting every policy individually to give rugby pros the star coverage they deserve.”

Few sports are better defined than rugby for their reliance upon exceptional teamwork, outstanding leadership and out-and-out commitment to the cause. These are the attributes your clients live and breathe every day, so we understand the need for our Prestige team to consistently deliver to these winning standards, prioritising responsiveness, agility and the ability to make decisions and provide quotes as quickly as your clients need them.
