ERS, the UK's leading specialist motor insurer, has announced the promotion of Chris Wilson as Head of Fleet and Commercial Motor, following Scott Tillbrook’s promotion to Active Underwriter. This strategic move brings two closely aligned classes under single leadership, adding Commercial motor responsibility to Wilson’s previous Head of Fleet role.
Wilson joined ERS in 2014 and has successfully built a disciplined Fleet underwriting team that has navigated a turbulent market to consistently deliver growth and underwriting profit through strong broker relationships and enviable broker response and service levels. In addition to the Fleet class, Wilson now adds responsibility for ERS’ Commercial portfolio, which covers Transportation, Courier, Specialist Commercial Vehicle, Taxi, Minibus, and Coach & Bus, insuring up to five vehicles (or ten for Transportation and Specialist Commercial Vehicle) which are all traded via ERS eTrade, giving brokers 24/7 access to instant quotes, MTAs, and renewals. More complex or non-standard risks are referred to the underwriting team, ensuring the right cover is offered for out-of-the-ordinary cases.
This leadership alignment will drive greater consistency in terms of underwriting strategy, approach and ultimately brokers’ experience.
Scott Tillbrook, ERS Active Underwriter, commented: “Chris has consistently demonstrated strong leadership and underwriting expertise. His deep understanding of the Fleet market, combined with his ability to build trusted broker relationships, makes him the ideal person to lead both portfolios. This move will help us drive greater consistency and create more opportunities for growth in a competitive market.”
Wilson added: “Bringing Fleet and Commercial together makes perfect sense given the significant overlap in vehicle types, risk profiles, and broker base. By aligning these classes, we can create more consistent and straightforward propositions and provide a smoother, more effective and efficient service to brokers. This approach not only helps us better understand and manage risks across the board, but also opens new opportunities to support brokers with individual vehicles, mixed or evolving fleets, ultimately strengthening partnerships and driving growth.”
