DANIELLE BURTON PINK

We’re excited to welcome Danielle to the ERS broker support team! Having joined us recently, Danielle brings with her a strong broker background and a fresh perspective on the motor market. We caught up with her to hear more about her journey into motor insurance, her first impressions of ERS, and how she’s settling into her new role.

Tell us about your journey into motor insurance

I started out at Towergate as a fleet broker from which I gained a great understanding of the motor market and knowledge of what brokers really need. My broker background has helped me see things from both sides, which I have now brought into my new role as a BDSE, especially when it comes to communication and building strong relationships. It’s a perspective that I think really helps when tackling underwriting challenges and supporting my panel of brokers.

What were your first impressions of ERS?

My first impressions of ERS have been really positive. I’d worked with the ERS Fleet underwriting team during my time at Towergate, so I already knew how supportive and responsive they were, even with tricky renewals. That gave me a great insight into ERS’s culture, and when the opportunity came up to join, it felt like a natural step. The interview process was clear and friendly, and that same welcoming, fast-paced atmosphere has been there from day one.

Tell us about your role and what does a typical day look like for you?

I support both Dean Mardy in the North and Paul Cavanagh with his strategic panel, while also managing my own panel of brokers. My days are a mix of prepping for meetings, having follow-up chats to build on broker relationships, and looking for ways to grow accounts. Most of the brokers I work with are past the intro stage, so we’re having more focused, meaningful conversations. I also handle monthly reporting to track performance and spot opportunities, it’s a great mix of relationship building, strategy, and team support.

What is the most enjoyable part of your role?

The most enjoyable part of my role is allowing myself to be pushed outside my comfort, and building strong relationships with brokers, be it over the phone or face to face. I’ve grown a lot in confidence through having those conversations. I also got to attend BIBA for the first time, which was such a great experience; I enjoyed meeting the wider ERS team and connecting with brokers in person, which really brought everything to life.

What are the unique challenges and opportunities in your region's insurance market?

The North region is home to some of the largest cities of the UK and that’s where the teamwork comes in - while the RDMs are out on the road, I’m helping things run smoothly, whether that’s through calls, emails, or finding solutions for tricky risks. It’s all about making sure brokers feel supported and continuing to grow those relationships, wherever they’re based.

What hobbies or interests keep you busy in your free time?

Outside of work, I love anything creative - I’ve done courses in digital photography and interior design, and I’m that person who takes way too many photos at any event! I’m also getting married in New York this October, which I’m super excited about - lots to look forward to!
